Who would win a Legends Sussex Stakes? Find out via Legends Racing

The winner of tomorrow’s Qatar Sussex Stakes will add their name to an illustrious roll call of names, many of which will be seen lining up against each other at 11.30am on Wednesday in the virtual Legends Sussex Stakes.

The race is brought to you by Legends Racing – the first daily virtual product to use “real” horses, jockeys, and silks, allied to in-depth form.

The Legends Sussex Stakes features some true stars from yesteryear, including Kris (Lester Piggott), Rock Of Gibraltar (Mick Kinane), Brigadier Gerard (Joe Mercer) and, of course, Frankel (Tom Queally). The virtual race will be shown on the Racing TV channel and its Twitter and Facebook platforms. Racing TV’s runner-by-runner guide is here.

The new Legends Racing series calls on a database of 9,000 top-class Flat horses from the last 50 years, including many old favourites, such as Dancing Brave and Reference Point, who will do battle with the more recent heroes of the turf, like Galileo and Sea The Stars. Legendary jockeys from over the years, including Lester Piggott, Willie Carson, Pat Eddery, Walter Swinburn and Ryan Moore will also all be pitted against one another.

Legends Racing, developed by Quantum Leap Solutions, in collaboration with Racecourse Media Group, is provided to bookmakers, via the OpenMarket TM solution from Scientific Games.

Mark Fellows, of Quantum Leap said: “Years of research has gone into analysing horse and jockey techniques, race tactics, sectional timings and racecourse curvatures and gradients to ensure these simulated races are as realistic as possible. We have tried to build something that simulates what might have happened had the great horses from different generations been able to race against each other.”

Nick Mills, Commercial Director of RMG, said: “Legends Racing is the first daily virtual product aimed at real racing fans, who can form a genuine opinion on a race using previous form and ratings. We, as a sport, love to compare horses and jockeys from different eras and now we have a credible and reliable means of bringing those scenarios to life.”

Goodwood, York, Newbury, Salisbury and Ayr are the racecourses currently integrated on Legends Racing, with more racecourses set to follow suit.

Legends Racing is currently available on the Coral and Ladbrokes digital platforms and will be fully integrated by other leading betting operators in the coming weeks.
